- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)had a famous grey-hound and when he was in bed one night the mermaid came along and brought the grey-hound into the lake and he never got him again. People say a mermaid is half a fish and half a woman with long hair. A mermaid does not swim but walks along under the water.It is supposed that there is a leipreachan in Dooley's ratheen. A leipreachan is a very small man ; he is dressed in green and has a small red cap on his head. He is always mending and making boots. They are very unfriendly creatures. If you catch a leipreachan he will try very hard to get going and if he cannot(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
