   there. The people burned turf and mill-seeds. The people had to keep stirring the seeds to make them burn. The people used rushes for lights as candles were not much known. The rushes were peeled and dipped in grease and left in a row to dry. The candle stick was something like this. Mabel Glynne, age 13 Clonbrin, Abbeyshrule, Mullingar, Co. Longford. Told her by her grandparents (over 80) who also live in Clonbrin. Mr. & Mrs. J. Glynne.
