- Long ago the people had many cures for different diseases. They had cures for pains aches and cuts.
They used Jeyes Fluid as a cure for a tooth-ache. It is a very good cure and I often saw it being used. Long ago if people had warts they rubbed water off a bridge on them or dipped washing soda in holy water and made the sign of the cross over the warts with washing soda. Sometimes a person rubbed a black snail on the wart and then they stuck the snail on a white thorn bush. After a while the snail withered away and the wart withered also.
If a person got a cut and the blood did not stop they often put a spiders cobweb on it and the blood stopped. If a person got a burn he chopped up new potatoes and put them on it.
