  2. A man named Mr Flinn of Newtownforbes could leap a high jump of 5 ft 10 ins and he himself was 5 ft 8 ins. This exploit was seen at a military sports in Longford.

  3. Mr Little is a powerful swimmer. One day a child fell into the canal just opposite Mr Little's door. When someone shouted for help Mr Little rushed out and jumped into the water and saved the child.
