- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)They travel in families or in bands. The best known of them around here are the "Stoke's, McDonagh's and Joyce's."The "Stokes" family of travellers most frequently visit our district. They generally come before a fair-day, and have donkey's and horses for the fairs. A lot of them make things from tin and go about selling them, and more go about with sheets of tin and tools, mending cans and such like things. The "gypsy" travellers make little tables and flowers out of coloured paper, and also lace. When the people buy from them they generally tell fortunes, which sometimes come true.
