The swallows gather together on the telegraph wires and they talk to each other. They say "Cip, cip, cip," which means "We will go south." If you see a row of swallows on the chimney it is said that a member of the house will go to a foreign land.
The cuckoo goes away in the end of August. She flies by night and when she reaches a village or a town she flies into an old barn or house.(continues on next page)
