    is sure to be wet too. A dry February is the sign of a bad Summer. If the twelve days of Xmas are good the whole year will be good. If it rains on St. Swithins day there will be forty days of of bad weather. "A wet & windy May fills the farmer's haggard with oats and hay." To see the black-thorn covered with fruit in the harvest is a sign of a hard winter. To see the blue smoke arising straight from the chimney stack is considered an indication of showers. A white frost invariably brings rain. If the fish are biting well it is a sign of rain being near at hand.
