- (continued from previous page)The South wind brings rain, mostly to our district. A rainbow is also a sign of rain, but a rainbow in the morning is worse than a rainbow in the evening. "A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning and a rainbow at night is the shepherd's delight". When the sky is heavily hung with black clouds it is a sign of approaching rain. At night, when you see large white clouds called wool packs travelling swiftly by the moon, it is a sign of rain. When the cricket sings sharply in the hob - when the ducks quack loud - when the swallows fly low - when the robin sings at the buit of the bush instead of at the top - when the flags and walls sweat - when the soot falls down the chimney - when the midgets bite badly - when the frog changes his colour from a golden hue to a dark russet - when the clocks creep out in large numbers on the kitchen floor at night - when the cat sits by the fire and washes her face(continues on next page)
