- The old people lived in mud wall houses long ago.
The roof that was on them was thatch and sticks from the bog. Some of them were thatched with straw. There was a settle bed in the kitchen in which the people slept. Chiefly children slept in these beds. In small houses the fire was at the gable and in big houses it was in the middle of the house. The chimney was made of clay and wattles.
