    It is also said that Saint Patrick visited this parish and was going to build seven churches in it as it was the custom as that time the first but as he was building the first a red haired woman shouted at him "begone". Saint Patrick said that there would be always a robber a rogue and a thief in Ardagh.

  2. In this district fairs are held in Edgeworthstown and in the village of Ardagh. Edgeworthstown is a small town but there is nearly all good fairs in it.
