- (continued from previous page)Every parish in Ireland has it's own Patron Saint. The patron Saint of Legan is the Blessed Virgin. And on the eight of September the feast of her Nativity is kept. In olden times after last Mass being over - there would be stalls outside at that time called standings where the children bought sweets, biscuits, oranges also apples in abundance.
But the men did not relish those things they had stalls for themselves called tents where they sold lemonade - only it was a bit stronger and it made them very noisy and quarrelsome. Which I think was(continues on next page)- Collector
