    It is also customary on Xmas Eve night to light candles in all the windows. The reason is to show light to the Blessed Virgin who is supposed to be going around seeking shelter as she did on the first Xmas Eve night.
    On Xmas day none of the family are supposed to be absent.
    Long ago the people used to leave the door open and leave bread on the table for the Holy souls who were supposed to roam through the world on that night.
