    They filled clay pipes with tobacco to give to the men, and snuff for the women. Then before the corpse was put in the coffin the old women would go and look to see was the hood of the habit straight, then they would take a good look at the corpse before it was put in the coffin. Some people put money in the coffin, they thought they would want it to pay their way going to heaven. They would put the coffin on stools out side of the door, and when they would lift the coffin they would knock down the stools with their feet. They would select
