  2. There were Hedge Schools in this district. The teachers lodged in the farmers' houses.
    The children paid a penny a week or in some cases 10/- a quarter if they could afford it.
    No Irish was taught to my remembrance in these times.
    The Books cost according to the Class thus 1d for a First Book 2d for 2nd Book + so on.
    Slates were they only medium of writing
