- Tailors. . . . . . . .26 - 9 - 38There is not any tailor in this district at present.
There were two tailors in this district named Johnny Devereux, Blackstone, and Johnny Murphy, Nicharee.
They are now dead.
They used to make the suits in their own houses, and you would have to bring the suit-length to them.
When you would bring the cloth the tailor would take your measurements and cut out the suits by them.
The implements used in making the suits are machine, scissors, thread, needle, iron or goose, a thimble called a tailors thimble.
There is another tailor who lived in Bellary about 60 years ago named Jim Quin.
This man made a suit for my own Grand - Daddy, who is now dead.
He used to go around to every house and stay there while he would be making the suit.
He used to carry the implements used around with him in a little bag he made himself.
