  1. There are only two holy wells in this parish, one on the edge of Carrigmannon wood known as Saint Lawrence's, and the other in Ardcandrisk. People still visit them at the local pattern-time. There are no rounds performed at them, but prayers are said. The one in Carrigmannon is dedicated to St Lawrence, the patron Saint of the parish. In olden times a great many people visited this one, but not so much of late years. It was visited chiefly by people suffering from eye ailments, and a great deal of cures were said to have taken place. I have also heard it called the "Wishing Well". Certain people believe that if they drank the "well-water", whatever they wished for.
