  1. The Potato Crop
    (Cottage Garden)
We sow potatoes on our land every year we have about half an acre of land.
Some years we have a good result but other years the crop is scarce owing to the frosty weather.
My father prepares the ground he sows the potatoes in drills and they are made with a plough or a spade.
First the earth is dug up and then the drill are made then the manure is put in each drill and after that the seed is put in one by one along the manure they are put a foot away from each other and lastly they are covered in.
The farmers mostly use ploughs and the men with small gardens use spades to turn the earth.
