- In two places in parish of Blackwater there is what is called "A Money Hole" - One place is near the moate of Ballingown two miles north west of Blackwater. Local bealoideas has it that long ago people buried their money there + that soldiers were buried with the money. It is curious the fact soldiers being buried with the money but the old people say so.The other is at Knocknasillogue - "Cnoc na Siulleog" in a field owned at present by Thomas Quinn. His grandfather searched for the treasure + founded the flag which shrouded the dead soldiers.
He desisted + covered up the hole but planted a sgeach to mark the place. The sgeach is still there- Informant
