    This abnormal snow fell in the month of January. / about 12th day. and it snowed from the South which is not usual in these parts.
    Then in 1839 came the 'big wind' / houses were razed to the ground, roofs were completely stripped and in scores of places nothing was left of what was once fine strong homestead but bare gaping walls.
    It is said that as a result of this mighty wind the corn was blown clean off the field and got 'mixed'
