- A prayer said when going to bed at night
Now I lay me down to sleep,
To God I give my soul to keep,
And if I die before I wake
To God I give my soul to take.
Sleep now, Sleep never,
To God I give my soul forever.
There are four corners on my bed
Four holy angels round it spread,
St. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
God bless this bed that I lie on.
Oh my Jesus, I know that I have to die,
But I know not where, when or how
But if I die in mortal sin,
I am lost forever
Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on me and forgive
me all my sins. Amen. The following prayer is said when passing a Crucifix.
Oh Lord my God by sufferings rent,
Nailed to a cross my love to gain,
Grant through my cross when life is spent
In death Thy Mercy I obtain.
