- We have a churn and it is called an End-Over-End. It was bought in John Bolger's, Gorey. Its height is about four feet and a half and it is round at the top. It is shaped like a barrell.We generally churn about twice a week, and my sister and my mother usually churn. It takes about three quarters of an hour to churn, and if a friend came in he would take a hand in the churning, and if he did not it is said that he would take the butter.The churn consists of a lid, a handle, and a frame for holding the churn up.There are some screws on the lid for keeping it on. It is made of cedar wood. There is a plug in the middle of the side for letting the milk out. Some of the milk is(continues on next page)
