    the churn. When the butter is done it is strained off and the butter is pressed so as to get the butter-milk out of it. Then it is salted and made into rolls. The buttermilk is used for making bread and it is also given to pigs.

  2. Churning
    It was an old custom long ago to put a branch of quicken tree around the churn in May. The old Miss Doyles of Ballyorley used to put a quicken branch around the churn every May.
