- In olden times there was no such thing as National Schools. Teachers used to go from house to house teaching. One teacher in particular:- Richard O'Connor formerly of Glasslacken taught three nights a week in each townsland. There was a large number of scholars attending him every night. He taught all English but no Irish. They were badly off for schools. Everyone that attended the school had to bring a penny and that was how the teacher was paid(continues on next page)
