Most of his verse dealt with religious contraversy as his native parish Ferns at that time was infested with bigots.
On one occasion he wanted to go to Carnew Races, but didn't like to ask his employers for money.
So he passed the following slip to him at breakfast
"When you are done with your tea and eggs
Get up on your pair of legs
Go to the till and give me some money
Oh! Dont refuse Mister honey"(continues on next page)
