Nail making
My Great Grandfather named George Allen, who lived in the Irishtown, used to make nails from iron, and when they were made he used to walk miles and miles barefooted to sell them.
Oil making
A long time ago a man named Nickie Nolan made oil from cows' hoofs. He boiled the hoofs for about two hours and then the oil was made.
Rope making
A man named Mr. Brown made ropes from cows tails.
He lived in the Bosheen and iin the olden times they called it the "rope-walk" on account of his trade.
Cleaning clothes.
An old woman named Mrs. Doyle who lived in Chapel Lane cleaned clothes with ivy and then pressed them until they were like new.
Quilt making.
My Great Grandmother made quilts and shirts with her hand and sold them in several shops in the town.(continues on next page)- Collector
