    James Maher's son is also a thatcher, living in Dromard
    Tin -Work
    Patsy Kenerney, Templemore used supply tin gallons, saucepans, quarts and kettle here.
    Basket -Making
    There was a man named Bill Fanning in Couraganeen. He was a basket-maker. He used to make all kinds of baskets for sale and to order. He used to make them of sally and hazel rods.
    My father is able to make baskets, he often made one for ourselves out of sally rods.
    Soap-Making
    A man named James Large of Roscrea use to make soap. That was his way of living.
    Thatching
    Bill Fanning of Couraganeen was a great thatcher. He could thatch a house in two and a half days. He used to use sally and hazel rods called "scollops" and he would use oaten straw.
    Bill Fanning is dead about four years now.
    My father is able to thatch and my grandfather was able to thatch with scollops and straw, but there's not much thatching to be done nowadays as the most of the houses are tiled or stlated.
    Soap A man named James Large, of Roscrea was able to make soap. That was his was of living.
