The "Moaneen" is a field owned by Maher of Clonan House. About 200 years there was a gentleman named Pretty. He had a great racing mare - the best in the world. She won a lot of races.
One day after winning a race in Pretty's field she lay down. she was 3 days lying and moaning all the time. It was because of her moans the field was called "Moaneen" Old Place Names
“We have a field called "Bee's Garden" because a man named Jack Bees had a house in that field...”
