alone for a ramble and standing beside the well for a few moments wondering what the result would be if she did the rounds of the tree and well. At last she made up her mind and off with her around the well. An old legend gives us the result of her expedition, stating, that after the third round her eye balls broke and such an amount of water flowed out of them that the river Boyne sprung up and in consternation she ran to Drogheda where she fell into the sea and was drowned. The flow of water followed her and from that day to this the Boyne is running its winding course from Trinity Well to the Irish Sea.
