    Of 1823 Daniel O’ Connell succeeded John Kehoe as leader of the Catholic Association and J.K.L. joined him.
    J.K.L. did not believe in the success of O’ Connells Repeal of the Union Movement. He concentrated on Education. It was written in 1841 about J.K.L. that “The country is now filled with schools for the benefit of the humblest peasant, who receives a liberal and wholesome education. This great boon is mainly due to J.K.L.’s exertions and the spirit they awakened.
