- The fire-place was never at the side wall or in a corner but it was at gable end. The fires were on the ground, because there were no grates. The chimneys were made from wattles and clay.
- The flours of the houses were made with paving stones. They were also made from cow manure and yellow clay.
- There is a ruined castle in my district. It is situated in Mr. Coyne's field in Bracklin, Kilbeggan, West-meath.
