    If he puts his hand on the saucer with the clay in it, it is said he will die inside of a year. If he puts his hand on the saucer with the water in it, he will cross the sea inside of a year. If he puts his hand on the saucer with the ring in it, he will be married inside of a year. When the people are drinking their tea they eat barm-brack. There is a ring in the barm-brack and it is said whoever gets the ring will be the soonest to get married. Strawmen dress on that night. They go round from house to house dancing and singing. They get money and apples in nearly every house.
