  2. Most people get married before Advent. People do not get married on Shrove Tuesday. People get married on Wednesday. It is said to be the lucky day. The old people say :-
"Monday for health, Tuesday for wealth,
Wednesday the best day of all,
Thursday for losses, Friday for crosses,
and Saturday no luck at all".
People do not get married in May. There are very few matches made in my district. Money is often given as a dowry. No straw-boys go to the houses.
