Players were not allowed to tip the ball with their hands or arms from the elbow down.
In a game played in a callow by the side of the shannon at a place called Clonascra the ball was kicked eighty yards by Jack McIntyre of Ballyshand Cloghan and it landed in the Shannon. Men had to get "a cot" (a small boat) to get it out, it went about two miles down the shannon. Most of the players kicked in their own clothes, they did not wear togs.
