    June 1938.
    People in this district always change from one house to another on a Friday as Friday is regarded as a lucky day.
    In olden times people would not yoke horses and most of the mills would be closed on St Matins Day.
    Some people would not sweep the floor or throw out ashes on Monday as they believe 'tis unlucky to do so.
    The rhyme about days for marriage was--
