- There were eight good mowers in the townland of Galross and Cloghan some years ago.
Their names were, - Jim and Mick Hyland, brothers, Hugh Leonard, Tom Brady, Tom Meleady, James McIntyre, Paddy Dwane, and Jimmy Nunan.
Half an acre was supposed to be a fair day's mowing of meadow. But all those mentioned were able to cut an Irish acre when working by task.
