  1. There were eight good mowers in the townland of Galross and Cloghan some years ago.
    Their names were, - Jim and Mick Hyland, brothers, Hugh Leonard, Tom Brady, Tom Meleady, James McIntyre, Paddy Dwane, and Jimmy Nunan.
    Half an acre was supposed to be a fair day's mowing of meadow. But all those mentioned were able to cut an Irish acre when working by task.
    Ten shillings per Irish acre was their charge. At that time they used to
