- Long ago people made dye for their own use. My Grand Mother often made cream dye. First of all she boiled furze blossoms in water and when the water came to a boil, she strained it off. Then the liquid was allowed to get cool. It was then put on the fire again and the article to be dyed was placed in it. After about ten minutes it was taken up and the article then found to be of a light yellow colour.(continues on next page)
