One of them is one cold and stormy day The Holy Family were out Our Lady lost the pin of her cloak She met several people and asked them for a pin but they refused her.At lenght they came to a forge and the smith noticing she wanted a pin told them to come in. He took a piece of silver from his pocket and beat it into the lovelist brooch that ever was seen.He gave it to her and she thanked him and gave him her blessing. Ever since this every smith that washes his hands in the water that cools his irons feels refreshed and made better.
- The saint which is traditionally connected with this district is St Cuddy. The townsland in which he lived is called after him Killmacuddy. He had a monastry there and in this he lived.Beside the(continues on next page)
