  1. Old Crafts. Rope-making.
    My father told me that his father was able to make ropes. He got some irons about half an inch thick cranked them and attached them together with wood; placed them in a wooden frame and left a handle in the centre with which to twist the twine into a rope.
    Those four cranks are used for twisting the cords. Then he put one crank at the other end for to twist the rope together and that is the way he made the ropes.
