- There was a farmer who lived in Newtown. He had about twenty cows and he got alot of milk from them. Every morning when he got up and milked them he found that they were milked during the night.
One night he said he would stop up to see who milked them. Early in the night he went out into the field where he kept his cows and hid. At about twelve oclock a hare came into the field carrying buckets.
She started to milk each cow in turn and then she went out of the field. The farmer followed her until she came to a little house. The hare was getting in in the window when the farmer hit her with a big stick he had in his hand.
