- Baile an Riog it means the town of the king because there did kings live there in old times. The Danes built a castle in it.
There is an old ruin where there used to be charcoal made years ago. Women worked in it for eight pence a day and the biggest hire was a shilling.
There was a big amount of turf made in it, and sold at three pence an ass load and sixpence a horse load.
