- In former times boots were never worn until the feet were fully grown which was at (twenty) about twenty years of age. I heard of no person who went without boots except those who live in Co Kerry or in the West of Ireland. At present children go barefooted in Summer but not in the Winter. Children used to go in their bare feet the whole year round some years ago because the climate was warmer and the weather milder and the children stronger and healthier.
