- There are three forges in this town. There is one in Mill St named Jacksons. It is situated beside the Slaney. The forge has a tarred roof and an ordinary door. There is one fireplace which is worked by bellows. The bellows is shaped like a big bag and there is a handle reaching from the bellows to the fire this the men pull to blow the fire. The smith uses many implements he uses different kinds of sledges he also uses pliars and an anvil. The smith makes many farm implements he makes shovels forks plough and many other little implements. In the olden days and at the present day smiths are supposed to be strong.
