  1. It was once a custom long
    ago when the people were
    going to the market with
    the butter they would leave
    down their basket of butter
    and then proceed to put on
    their boots which in
    these days the women never
    wore exept while they
    were at the market.
    The boots were taken
    off at the same place on
    the return journey with
    the result that the place
    is always called the "shoe
    corner."
