    used to be filled with water so that the enemy could not get into the castle very easily. This is now filled up with clay.
    There was an underground tunnel from the Moat down to the castle. Some road makers working recently unearthed a little bit of this passage. There is a story told of a duck finding its way into the tunnel, and coming out at the castle.
