    Signs of Fine Weather
    1. A fog arises from the mountain tops.
    2. The sun does not show his face too early in the morning.
    3. The smoke goes up straight from chimney tops.
    4. Redness in the sky before sunrise.
    5. Redness at sunset in Winter means frost at night followed by fine weather.
    6. When hills and objects look far away.
    7. Rainbows in the evening.
    8. The new moon in such positions that a hat could not be hung on it.......good weather may be expected.
    9. Sheep lying in the morning fine weather.
    10. Cattle grazing in the morning fine weather.
    11. Aurora Borealis in N.W. portends fine weather.
    12. Spring flowers before Christmas means severe weather before Spring.
    13. Fog on the river at night means fine weather for a few days.
    Signs of Thunder:
    Very close oppressive weather when meat goes bad and milk becomes sour quickly.
    Bees swarm often before thunder.
    Fish in rivers and streams come near to banks.
    Goats go to shelter and animals come to houses.
    Winds
    N.E. or West in Summer brings fine weather dry.
    N.E. or West in Winter or Spring sever with win and snow storm.
    A wind from Hacketstown brings cold rain or snow and sickness
    A wind from Seskin brings rain and wind storms.
    A South wind brings mild rain but dampness of floors, walls and furniture.
    Hooded crows appearing on farms indicate severe weather, flooding
