- About 50 years ago children used go in their bare feet till they were eighteen or twenty years of age. Those were labourer's children the richer children got boots when they were ten or eleven years old. They used go to mass in their bare feet. There were people who never wore boots they were mostly women. Now at the present time nearly all the children go in their bare bare feet in the summer but no one goes barefooted in the winter. Boots are given to the very poor ones for charity.
There is a special custom for washing feet. After washing feet people used not throw out the water, but used put a lighting stick in it and leave it in the house for one night.
