    said that you cant eat a blackberry after it passes over them. It is not believed now. Long ago the whole neighbourhood used to dress up in masks and old clothes and go from house to house dancing and singing old songs. The people in the houses use to give them pennies and apples and nuts. It died out for a time, but now it is getting up again, as more young ones are getting up again. The children of this district amuse themselves by playing "Snap Apple" by hanging an apple out of the roof and trying to catch it without putting their hands near it. They try catching an apple in a tub of water with your mouth. The older girls and boys play by putting two nuts in the fire and name one a girl and the other a boy, and if they crack to gether those pair will be married by that time next year.
