  1. (continued from previous page)
The weather can be judged by the flight of some birds, such as the swallow. When she flies low it is going to rain. The robin and blackbird comes hopping around the door -step when it is going to snow.
The sea-gull comes in on the land, from the sea when there is going to be a storm on the sea. The curlew, when he cries loud, is supposed to be calling down the rain. The robin got its red breast when our lord was dying on the Cross, the robin came near Him and a drop of Our Lord ‘s blood fell on the robin’s breast.
The lark follows the cuckoo when she comes to us in April. The cuckoo lays her egg in the other birds nest and she never builds a nest herself. The other birds do not like the Cukoo.
She gets hoarse about a week before she leaves us. That is how we know when she is about to depart.
