  1. The local landlord was the late Richard Fenton of Ballinclea. He was agent for Lord Wicklow.
    About five hundred years ago the family settled here and the descendants are here to the present day.
    They were not bad landlords. Some evictions were carried out because the tenants didn't pay for rent. Some of the evicted people went to America and others who were poorer went to the work-house.
    The land was divided into farms under their guidance. The farms are owned by the same tenants still. Where there was a big farm more than one son could hold it after the father's death.
